Our Story

Our founder, Neal David, has the purpose of equipping high school students with the information, skills, and mindset needed to excel in college, and by extension, their futures. With a background in teaching high school Latin, Neal realized there had to be a better way to prepare students for college admissions tests and help families navigate the many ever-changing steps in the college admissions process, and thus, The David Academy was born. Neal knows how to communicate with students, providing support to set them up for success. All our instructors share Neal’s passion by teaching through an approach that will resonate with your high schooler. The David Academy prepares students for more than just tests and classrooms—we equip and motivate them for the college experience with their best future in mind.

FAQs

The David Academy does not do a classroom model. All our services are based on a one-on-one plan that is individualized specifically to the needs and goals of each student. The instructor and student will coordinate their schedules to find the weekly time that is convenient for both.
The David Academy is a national virtual learning model that is local to the Atlanta area. We meet our students live via Skype or Zoom, which is just as effective for working together and accomplishing your goal. This adds the benefit of staying in the comfort and safety of your own home and the ability to record the lessons for future reference. Save time and money by eliminating a commute.
We accommodate by allowing families to cancel or reschedule a session when necessary. However, we require a 24-hour notice to cancel or reschedule a session. If you cancel with less than a 24-hour notice, that hour will count financially against your remaining contract hours.
That depends upon the service and your goals. After the complimentary consultation, we will work with you to tailor a plan specific to reaching your goal.
Our services are set under the following hours:
  • SAT/ACT Test Prep: 20 Hours
  • College Essay/Application Coaching: 5 Hours
  • College Interview (if applicable) Coaching: 2 hours
  • Financial Aid Coaching: 3–4 Hours
At the end of the initial agreement, you can elect to renew for an additional set of hours depending upon your academic goal. Please schedule a consult for a better idea of the hours required for your unique circumstances.
It depends upon the specific service and length of the agreement. Our hourly rates range between approximately $80 per hour to $200 per hour. Please schedule a free consult for a more accurate quote.
Yes. We offer discounts under situations such as multi-child enrollment and advance payment. We are happy to offer a 10% discount if you have multiple children enrolled in any of our services at the same time. We also offer a 5% discount for paying the entire contract upfront. If you prefer to make three payments, we can accommodate you as well. Give us a call, and we’ll let you know what discounts you may qualify for.
Yes. If you refer The David Academy to a friend, we will offer $50 off your package.
This depends upon which service you are utilizing. If you are an SAT/ACT prep student, there are a couple of prep books and study guides you will need to purchase for our sessions, which you can easily order online, totaling around $50. For any of our other services, your instructor will let you know if additional materials are needed. Don’t worry—we will make it as easy as possible for you.
We cannot guarantee a specific score on the SAT or ACT because there are factors that are beyond our control. However, we can guarantee that you will see a significant increase in your baseline and final scores if you will commit to doing the homework and employing The David Academy method. We have seen increases between 200 to 400 points on the SAT and 3 to 5 points on the ACT by students who use our method.
We employ only experts in their fields to work with our students. They have more than 40,000 hours of classroom teaching experience with teenagers. We are able to specifically tailor a curriculum to meet the individual needs of students, taking into account their strengths, weaknesses, and goals. In addition, we are available to support our students and their families 24/7 with questions or concerns via phone, text, email, so it’s like having a personal academic coach. By working virtually, we can accommodate work, travel, and activity schedules so students stay on track. Plus, we get meaningful, measurable results.

Testimonials

Mr. David is a fantastic teacher, he inspires and encourages his students, and without his influence I would not have been as motivated to pursue my interests and to pursue excellence in my studies. He takes an interest in his students and their development both in and out of the classroom. He has challenged me to think and to learn, and also taught me many life lessons about character and hard work.
Elizabeth P.
The David Academy unique style of tutoring helped my daughter improve her SAT score tremendously! She is going to UF this fall! I highly recommend them & will use them again for my other 3 kids!!
Peyton S.
Over the 3 years I worked with him, Mr. David became equal parts mentor, coach, friend, and father figure. He pushed me to aim high and work hard, and, often, took me aside to remind me that I could be the best, that I am talented, that he believed in me and all that I could do. I was a timid, nervous wisp of a student in high school (I suspect many of us were), and it’s hard to imagine who I would be now, if not for the support that I found with The David Academy.
Peggy X.
What is most incredible about Mr. David’s teaching—he motivates. He does an excellent job of breaking down difficult concepts into understandable principles, but in the end his goal is that you are able to do that for yourself.

Neal David is a brilliant teacher.
Chad G.
A great program and value! I was considering three different programs, to help my son with SAT prep. After talking with Neal, I pretty much knew, I would be going with them. They really know what they are doing with online learning! They make the program easy to follow, if your child is serious about improving their score and will do the work assigned. I felt like there were no surprises and we had a complete calendar up until the date of the actual SAT. Both Neal and David were very supportive of my son and we were very pleased with his final score!
